This paper presents the design and implementation of a system called Micro-Blog. New kind of application driven challenges are classified and tackle in the framework of this system. Architectural and implementation problems are discussed along the proposed approaches in the first half of the paper. In the second half of the paper implementation, evaluation of purposed system and limitations of ongoing work are discussed.

Tourism, Micro-news, micro-alerts, social collaboration applications may be merge on the platform of micro-blog. They took advantage of phone-sensors to encouraged users to record multimedia blogs on the fly .Micro blog is transported over an accessible wireless network e:g WiFi on a spatial platform. An internet user can zoom into any part of this world map and surf streaming content creating from that area. Incentives and privacy were the challenging issues for the Micro-blog platform. To resolve the issue of static localization scheme, they use to switch between different schemes to attain a better energy-accuracy trade off. To resolve the problem of spam they allow user to regulate the type of query they want to receive.
Micro-blog was evaluated using Nokia N95 phones. Energy awareness and localization error are characterized for WiFi, GSM, and GPS localization schemes. They evaluate the micro-blog by building and deploying a prototype implementation. Feedback from the user case study proves that there scheme was feasible.

 This paper mainly focuses on the ease of use in blogging while using their smart phones. by switching between different schemes they avail the application specific  balanced accuracy and battery life. Incentives academic user psychology and privacy issues are not resolved in it. Over all its a well written paper that summarize all the issues along their proposed techniques. It also tell the areas or applications which can be merge to avail more from this Micro-blog

Nericell: Rich Monitoring of Road and Traffic Conditions using Mobile Smartphone’s

Review:

This paper mainly focuses on the sensing component of Nericell on the problem of monitoring road and traffic conditions in the city of the developing countries. Previous work in this area has required the use of dedicated sensors on vehicles on the road side. Additionally, prior work has mainly focused on the developed world, with its comparatively simple traffic flow patterns. In the first half of the paper the detailed problem in the developing countries of traffic is discussed. Experimental setup and acceleration is discussed in first half. On the latter half, audio sensing for honk deduction a key requirement in Nericell is an energy-efficient localization service and the implementations of algorithms are described. Nericell is a system that performs rich sensing by piggybacking on Smartphone’s that users normally carry with them. In this paper, they focus particularly on the sensing component, to detect potholes, bumps,braking, and honking in these phones which uses the accelerometer, micro-phone, GSM radio, and/or GPS sensors. Nericell tackle a number of challenges including virtually reorienting the accelerometer on a phone that is a random orientation, and performing honk detection and localization in an efficient way. They also touch upon the idea of triggered sensing, where different sensors are used in tandem to preserve energy. They also estimate the efficiency of the sensing functions in Nericell based on experiments conducted on the roads of Bangalore, with capable consequences.
 This paper focuses on the sensing component of Nericell on the traffic and road monitoring problems. it discussed prior and related work in detailed. Smartphone’s can be used to monitor traffic and roads. in future they have plan of deployment of Nericell on a modest scale, experiment would be perform on multiple types of vehicles. Some details were discussed many times. Privacy of the Smartphone’s user is not considered. Paper does not provide incentives for participations in Nericell. It is complex and dense paper, as many things are not explained well.
